WHO WE ARE
Program Facilitation Team
Hi my name is Bret, I moved to the Iron Range over 6 years ago with my wife Sara, a native of Virginia, MN. I’ve spent most of my adult life working and playing outside and am passionate about outdoor recreation. Mesabi Outdoor Adventures was initially created in 2018 as a way to find friends and meet more people who share my love for the outdoors. The project has blossomed into a valuable, inclusive community building resource that I am proud of. I look forward to the opportunity to help more people spend time in nature in meaningful ways. My wife Sara and I have two young children, Evelyn and Violet who often accompany me on outings and who’s love for being outside is quickly growing. See you out there!
My name is Floyd Luomanen. I grew up in Mountain Iron and currently live in Virginia. I've always enjoyed outdoor activities so a couple winters ago I picked up a fat tire bike as a way to get out more during the winter months. I enjoyed that so much that I ended up buying a few more bikes so I could continue riding during the summer months with the great group of people I have become friends with through biking. I enjoy riding the many gravel roads and trails the Iron Range has. With the development of several dedicated mountain biking trails in the area, I am excited for the future of biking on the Iron Range. I hope to meet many of you out on a bike in the future at one of the biking events I host on the Mesabi Outdoor Adventures Facebook group.
Hi, my name is Josh Peterson. I joined Mesabi Outdoor Adventures in 2019 as a volunteer who was interested in building community and family oriented biking trips on the East Range where I live. My wife Mariah and I are both outdoor enthusiasts who love biking and skiing and are excited to teach our two daughters to do the same. I am also the Director of Bands at Mesabi East High School, so you may have seen me at one of the many parades that take place all over The Range in the summer. A vision I have for the future is to see mountain biking become a high school sport, we will certainly have the trails for it soon.
